In a quiet corner of Nishi-Gotanda, Gotanda Sushi Ochiai (五反田 鮨 落合) welcomes diners with the warmth of its chef and proprietress. The compact dining room has six counter seats and six table seats, with attentive service that lets dinner unfold at an unhurried pace.
The meal is served as an omakase course, with seasonal small plates and sushi arriving in measured succession. Each piece of sushi is made with a modest portion of rice, so the variety can be enjoyed comfortably through to the end. Thoughtful touches add to the course, from chawanmushi served in carefully chosen tableware to small plates prepared with attention to their individual ingredients.
Sake is selected to complement the food, and the drinks selection also includes wine and beer, offering different pairings to enjoy with the meal. For a relaxed dinner focused on sushi, advance reservations are recommended.
